Events on Tempe Town Lake - November By: Andrea Siegrist-Baez

Hi Everyone,

A few changes and hard closures to be mindful of in the next few weeks, please check them out.

Be Advised

Marina Upper Lot Closure – The marina upper west lot is available for parking until November 13th (except Nov 9th 5am-4pm). At that point it will be closed for Ironman staging. This closure will last through the November 24th full Ironman event. This means parking will be very tight during peak boating times. There are some alternate parking options at the Arizona Heritage Center off of College Ave and under the 202 off of Lakeview Drive (except Sunday October 21st until 3:30pm) but they will require some extra walking. Please plan accordingly.

Week of Oct 28th – November 3rd

Saturday November 2nd – Walk to Save Animals - This is a small walk (3500 walkers) that will pass in front of Boat Beach. There shouldn’t be too much impact to launching and landing. There will be no impact to the marina.

Week of November 4th – 10th

Saturday November 9th – Splash and Dash, 7:30am - Swimmers will be on the north side of the lake at the North Event Boat Ramp. Please be aware of swimmers in the water. Once they exit the water they will do a 5k run along the path towards Priest Dr. See link for more details.

Saturday November 9th – Tempe Town Lake 20th Anniversary Celebration 11am-4pm – This is going to be a really fun day at Tempe Town Lake with opportunities to try everything from free boating activities and

exercise classes to a rock wall and zipline among countless other activities! The lake will be staged with activities on both sides from the marina all the way west to the pedestrian bridge. You won’t want to miss this event. Bring your family and friends and come celebrate the lake turning 20!

Parking at the Marina (Nov. 9th) – The entire marina parking lot will be closed to all public parking from 5am-4pm. After 8am, the marina gates will open to permit parking only. If you plan to boat out of the marina that morning you will have to park offsite at the Arizona Heritage Center off of College Ave or under the 202 off of Lakeview Drive. As most of you know this will require a lot more walking so please plan accordingly.

For those planning to take out your personal watercraft on this day, during these hours, please be patient as parking and lake access will be extremely busy. The lake itself will also be very busy with boating from Rural west to the pedestrian bridge. Boating East of rural will likely be a good option with less traffic.

Week of November 11th –17th

Thursday-Sunday (Morning) November 14th – 17th – West Storage Lot and Lakeview Drive Closure – The west boat storage lot by the Marquee and Lakeview Drive will be closed beginning Thursday November 14th at 5am until Sunday November 17th at noon. This is due to the USA National Championship Triathlon. During this time parking will be available at the upper parking lot off of Lakeview at Moeur Park or 1st solar on the northwest corner of Mill and Washington.

Saturday November 16th – USA National Championship Triathlon 4am-4pm – This event is going to require a hard closure of all boating activities west of Mill Avenue. The Mill Avenue bridges and Curry between Mill and College will also be closed during the event (among other closures – see link for details).

Marina – Access to the marina will be via Curry and College or Gilbert Dr.

West Boat Storage - This means that there will be no access to boat storage or launching and landing from Boat Beach between 5am and 4pm. After 4pm the parking mentioned above will stay in effect until Sunday Nov. 17th around noon.

Thanks everyone!
